In this piece, I aimed to capture the view through the clouds from above - looking below to the rolling British countryside beneath.
I have named the painting "Flight", as I am reminded of the view from a plane window, as it comes in to land.
My paintings are often inspired by my love and fascination with ever-changing skies and cloud formation. I try to capture the movement and mood of the sky - Calm and dreamy, to dramatic and surreal. I study the skies over the Cheshire hills, close to my home and also the coastal skies over Anglesey, North Wales,
The layers of painting are developed by forming texture through layering and blending the oil paint, building depth and highlights.
