The inspiration for my painting of a pastel garden is my love of gardens in general, be they botanic gardens, a neighbourhood garden, or my own back garden.
I also love to work with colour, and was enjoying the use of pastel colours in this painting.
Flowers are wonderful to paint, even if they are imaginary. They provide delicious colours, and wonderful organic shapes and lines.
The origin of my painting was a mono print from a paint palette - just splotches of colour left at the end of a painting day.
One splotch looked like an orange rose, so I went from there.
