Original artwork description
Life can often seem chaotic, and we all do our best to handle events as they rush at us, very much like a tennis player who is volleying at the net, with mere seconds to try to intercept the ball before it gets into the back court. We act and react, trying not to get caught flat-footed. But the pace of managing chaos is exhausting, without doubt, which is why we need to find hope and encouragement within the struggle. In this diptych, I express the chaos of life with dynamic splashes of color and organic circular forms, which dance across the canvas. Onto this chaos, I have layered another circular pattern that is more orderly and balanced. These two layers interact in a transformation that expresses the hope we find--even amidst the chaos--by looking for and trusting in God’s plan for our lives, as stated in Jeremiah 29: 11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” This diptych is composed of (2) 11” x 14” abstracts, for an overall size of 14" h x 22" w, completed in acrylic and oil, with gold foil accents, in a vibrant palette, which has been dramatized by the contrast of black and white. This diptych has been given a satin varnish for protection, and hanging hardware is already installed.
