Original artwork description
This is the third of my "Find your wings and fly away" paintings, and for this one I created three watercolour paintings of different swirling lines and shapes in graduating Autumnal colours washed in gold ink to give an irridescant effect.
Each of the three dimensional butterflies is punch-cut from the watercolour paintings and decoratively arranged in a graduating colour square in the centre of the frame.
They are attached to heavy watercolour paper within a white glazed deep box frame
The result is a vibrant and colourful modern relief design revealing individual butterflies on closer inspection, with different shadows cast from the up-turned wings depending on the direction of the light.
