Field of Flowers (2011) Original Watercolour by Morag Paul

On a painting holiday in Zeeland, Netherlands, I came across this colourful scene and, as I was painting it, numerous other cars or bicycles stopped as everyone wanted to take a photograph of the lovely field. As an artist, I often walk or drive around looking for inspiring subjects to paint on site but this motif was clearly one that didn´t need an artist´s eye to recognize its attraction! I have focused on the sheer mass of flowers and included the red rooves of the houses against the syke so that this painting is full of colour and thus conveys the uplifting mood.
