‘Farewell the Day’ is a unique monotype made at my studio in Cadiz, southern Spain. Trafalgar beach made famous by the naval battle of 1805 is my local beach and is the inspiration for many of my monotypes. In this seascape we see a warm red sun slip slowly into the Atlantic Ocean.

Tim’s monotypes are completely unique pieces of work made from applying ink to several metal etching plates and taking them through an etching press, gradually building up an image, later after layer.

Materials used:

heavy bodied etching inks on paper
