Fairy Soul,
This painting is created with layers of inks, followed and intermingled with acrylics, varnish glazing techniques, the painting is created over a long space of time as each layer settles and drys before the painting is worked on again, each layer becoming increasingly transparent so that the painting becomes richer and deeper, the surface just as important as the final image.
50x50cm on Gallery wrap linen canvas.
The image is linked to fairy stories, the tales we were told as children, the tales we still tell to children. But this one is even deeper than that, this is an exploration and portrayal of my inner “soul” – or whatever word you prefer to use for that, its how I feel, or how I would feel if this world, this life did not carry with it so much suffering, so much disconnection from this true self.
