The cliffs at West bay Inspired my painting, they are at the same time both permanent and fragile. The structure looks like stacked bricks, it is being steadily eaten away by the sea. There are heaps of giant blocks on the beach from recent rockfalls. The profile of the cliff is a curve so the top juts out further than the bottom, inevitably resulting in rockfalls. I was sensitive to the confrontation between cliff and sea the remorseless erosion the sea makes, very little can hold back the sea.
A painting both visual and tactile, painted on a burnt Sienna ground . Framed in a plain frame hand painted in a specially mixed soft white. Signed titled and dated on the reverse. Shipped with a track and trace identity carefully packed in mostly recycled materials
