Artwork description:

An atmospheric landscape in vibrant colours. The original photograph was take on the Island of Mainland Orkney off the north coast of Scotland near the Ring of Brodgar, standing stones from over 5000 years ago.

Standing near the Standing Stones of Stenness, surrounded by ancient history and a deep mauve September sky, this scene calmed and entranced me. The Orcadians weave beautiful fabrics using ancient dyes from the plants in their landscape, in this image texture and landscape combine. I was particularly in love with the moody purples of the sky harmonising perfectly with the ochre and browns in the reeds. I combined images of the textures with those of the landscape to create a feeling of fabric in the final piece.

I hope, that when hanging on your wall, this lovely piece takes you to a beautiful place in your life when you stood and gazed in wonder at what Nature has created.

Printed at 60 x 40 inches on lightly textured museum grade Canson Canvas which holds the colours for a lifetime. The image has 2 inches of blank canvas for the sides of your frame.

Many thanks for looking at my work, if you have any questions about this image or another or need help to find the right size etc just get in touch with me.
