Inspired by an evening stroll along a local beach in North Devon under a heavy evening sky. I've returned to one of my favourite ways of painting. Using a combination of semi-abstract and realism in thickly applied textural layers of paint to the foreground to describe the contours of the beach. An impact piece. I've chosen a rich palette of blues, violets, ochres & sandy oranges & browns to provide warmth and depth to the work. Sides have been painted too. Materials used include oil, impasto medium and acrylic. The work has been sealed for durability.
