This original watercolour is inspired by the famous poem written by Matthew Arnold in 1867.
It is something maybe a bit different but I felt it would make an interesting watercolour.
A fuller excerpt from the poem is
“The sea is calm tonight,
The tide is full, the Moon lies fair
Upon the straits; on the French coast the light
Gleams and is gone; the cliffs of England stand,
Glimmering and vast, out in the tranquil bay.”
The poem is much longer and well worth reading too.
I hope you like this visual interpretation!
The watercolour is available for sale with a Certificate of Authenticity.
