Original artwork description
"The fossilized pulse of an ancient machine."
In this work, the 'still life' takes the form of industrial relics. The interlocking teeth of ancient gears emerge from a textured abyss of deep crimson, oxidized greens, and metallic shadows. It is an exploration of the "afterlife" of technology, where mechanical precision is slowly reabsorbed into organic matter. These gears, once symbols of motion and force, are now fossilized in an alchemical soup of pigments and oxides. The composition invites the viewer to reflect on the passage of time, turning cold iron into a warm, tactile memory that feels both monumental and deeply intimate.
The Technique: Alchemy and Slow Time This piece is the result of a refined fusion between photographic memory and physical experimentation. The image is imprinted onto a wooden panel and then transformed through a textural layering of pure earth pigments and metallic oxides. Using egg white as a natural binder—following ancient traditions—and fixed by the power of direct sunlight, the process creates a unique, millenary-like surface. The resulting textures and organic cracks are an integral part of the narrative, marking the passage of time and the artist's dedication.
