I do not look at the canvas—I feel it.

I painted this piece to hold the moment before a performance begins, when sound exists only inside the chest. Three ballerinas stand like delicate metronomes, suspended between stillness and movement.

The figure on the left listens, uncertain if her turn has arrived. The central dancer appears composed, yet full of expectation. On the right, another leans in, as if sharing a secret only the others can hear. Behind them, a ghostly silhouette remains as a silent witness.

Deep blues and teal tones create a nocturnal theatrical atmosphere, while warm golden light allows the figures to breathe from within.

The meeting of their hands became the heart of the composition—a dialogue without words. Elongated faces, enlarged eyes, and stretched pointe shoes carry a quiet melancholy and the tension of movement not yet begun.

For me, this painting exists between two breaths: the last echo of a finished performance and the first pulse of the next one.
