El Capitan (2003)Photograph by Gary Moger

45.72 x 60.96 x 0.25cm (unframed) / 41.66 x 58.42cm (actual image size)

£465

Photographed at first light in Yosemite National Park, California, it was August 2003.

Shot on a Leica M6 with Kodak Portra NC film, then drum scanned and printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag.
It was silent and just the sound of nature. The light was warm and the controlled fire smoke to manage the forests was still low to the cold ground.
I had been climbing the day before around El Capitan and the rock in the morning light looked like it was solid gold.

All my work is full frame, not cropped and as it was in life. I print each image and no not outsource anything. I use the finest archival paper by Hahnemuhle, usually Bamboo for its tonal range and environmental credentials.

Materials used:

Hasselblad camera, Kodak portrait VC film, Hahnemuhle Bamboo Archival paper
