Édouard et moi (2025) Original Mixed-media Painting by Armandine JS

"Edouard and I" is a contemporary work, loosely inspired by Édouard Manet's painting "Déjeuner sur l'herbe." In this poetic and delicate reinterpretation, I explore the dialogue between past and present, between art history and my own identity.
This work evokes notions of intimacy, femininity, contemplation, and silent presence.
My creative process combines rigor and spontaneity: each collage is made from handmade monotypes, cut out and integrated into the composition like fragments of memory or emotion. The embroidery then highlights certain contours or adds a tactile detail, inviting a slower, more attentive reading of the work.
