Original artwork description
An oil painting of Edinburgh Castle form the north side of the town. I wanted to capture an immediately identifiable image of Edinburgh in my own way. The skyline in Edinburgh is visually very dramatic, perhaps more so than most British cities. I enjoyed emphasising the shapes of the trees and I incorporated a figure and a dog to help with the sense of scale. I love misty blue often seen in Edinburgh and hope to do more paintings of the city. I have lived in Edinburgh for over 30 years, and painting it is a way to keep it fresh in the minds eye. This painting is framed to a very high standard by one of Edinburgh's top framers.
