In this acrylic painting inspired by nature, I wanted to capture the quiet magical feeling of being in the forest when everything slows down. Soft pinks and warm golds glow among layers of green, as sunlight drifts through the leaves and dances across the woodland floor. The light feels alive, shifting and shimmering, as if the forest itself is breathing. This impressionistic scene holds a sense of calm and reflection, a small, peaceful moment borrowed from time, inviting you to pause and simply be. It brings a gentle stillness to a space, like a daily breath of fresh woodland air.
This is an original, one-of-a-kind artwork, created using high-quality acrylic paints on a deep-edged canvas. Each painting begins with time spent observing the landscape, making notes and photographs that later inform the work in my studio. From there, the process becomes intuitive. I build up base layers with a brush, then add rich, textured layers using impasto techniques applied with a palette knife. Drawing on optical mixing techniques inspired by the Impressionists, the colours are layered and blended until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The artwork continues around the edges of the canvas, so no frame is needed, and it arrives ready to hang.
