All of my life, I’ve been an avid gardener, a love that I inherited from my dad, who grew up on a farm. As a child, I never tired of his stories of the farm, his horse (Kate), the antics of the animals, and his love of nature. With each plant that I tend, I marvel at God’s creative hand. Only God can breathe life into His creations, which live, grow & change. The garden, for me, is a place of prayer, reflection and renewal, which is why I have titled this large series “Echoes of Eden.” This series begins as an abstract collage, painted on vellum, upon which relevant Scripture passages are printed, which are linked to the image. Echoes #3 features Isaiah 65: 9-10: “I will bring forth offspring from Jacob, and from Judah possessors of my mountains; my chosen shall possess it, and my servants shall dwell there. Sharon shall become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of the Achor a place for herds to lie down, for my people who have sought Me.” The collage is then glued to 12” x 12” canvases, upon which I paint in acrylics and then oil. These paintings have been sealed with a satin varnish for protection, and hanging hardware is already installed.
