- Duncliffe hill Sunset, Dorset
Original artwork description
Duncliffe hill Sunset, Dorset
View from beneath Shaftesbury hill,
September time,
A radiant sun appeared with orange around it,
Purple hues and phthalo blue,
Shadows and light over the ancient landscape.
Words and feelings of my experience.
This original impressionist watercolour is inspired by one evening in late Summer and taking a drive off the hill to soak up the Sunset. I discovered an amazing view of it for the first time this year along a tiny narrow lane which I had never been along.
It is rare to find original watercolours or paintings of Duncliffe hill. I have explored it many times throughout the seasons. I look forward to painting a winter sunset over Duncliffe.
I used cold pressed Fabriano 300gsm 140l.
Signed on the front and back of artwork.
I drew the layout of the composition in pencil and then used sporadic washes of different shades all over. It was challenging as the light kept changing over the landscape I persevered.
Materials used:
Cold pressed watercolour paper Fabriano 300gsm 140lb, Japanese watercolours, Chinese hake brush, Chinese brushes, sable hair brush, filbert brush, pencil,
Details:
- Watercolour on Paper
- One of a kind artwork
- Size: 48.1 x 31.9 x 1cm (unframed)
- Signed on the front
- Style: Impressionistic
- Subject: Landscapes, sea and sky
