Artwork description
Drifting in Gold is an abstract study of warmth, light, and gentle movement, created from maple leaves caught beneath the surface of water, illuminated by sunlight as they slowly drift. Seen through water and motion, the leaves dissolve into flowing veils of gold, amber, and saffron yellow, with deeper traces of burnt orange and soft crimson moving like breath through the image.
The result is painterly and immersive — less a literal scene and more a feeling. Light refracts, edges soften, and time seems to slow. There is a quiet poetry in the way the leaves move beneath the surface, suspended between sinking and floating, presence and memory.
At 60 inches, this is a true statement artwork, yet its warmth and softness keep it calm and inviting. The glowing palette brings comfort and optimism into a space, making it especially suited to living rooms, dining areas, or serene interiors where colour is meant to soothe as much as it captivates.
Drifting in Gold invites the viewer to pause — to experience light, water, and autumn colour not as detail, but as emotion held in motion.
