Original artwork description:

During my time drawing on the streets of London, I focused on capturing the dynamic atmosphere of the Docklands—an area steeped in history yet constantly transforming. Once the bustling heart of maritime trade, where vast ships unloaded produce from across the world, the Docklands underwent major redevelopment in the 1980s and continues to evolve today. It now stands as a vibrant hub of city workers, striking new architecture, and glimmering waters that echo its industrial past. Back in the studio, I translated my on-site sketches into an oil painting that conveys this unique energy and sense of renewal. Beneath a bridge, I introduced a rainbow of colour to express the vitality and rhythm of this modern metropolitan landscape. Across the water, the historic SS Robin—now permanently moored at Trinity Buoy Wharf—serves as a poignant reminder of London’s maritime heritage within a landscape of continual change and reinvention.
