Original artwork description
In this exquisite painting, the irises stand tall and elegant, creating a sense of movement, rhythm, light and shadow on the canvas. The colors I chose capture the essence of these enchanting flowers and create a sense of tranquility and calm. I added a hint of gold shimmering paint to some areas to enhance the play of light and shadow and add depth and dimension to the composition. I was inspired by the water irises I see naturally growing in ponds and lakes near my Midwestern home. This painting will transport you to a serene garden, evoking a moment of peaceful contemplation and reverence for the natural world.
I intentionally rendered the irises as loosely defined and elegantly shaped with gestural drawing elements created with pastels to define the edges of the frilly petals. Transparent gold paint was used in some areas to add dimension and uniqueness to the artwork, making it wholly original.
