A light refreshment as the light fades.
'Cup of tea, my love is dead' describes a woman late in her life. Many moments of joy and despair now rooted in the past, she ponders these memories as the day comes to an end.
The table is central to the narrative. It gives the appearance of fragility, invoking a daintiness in its decorative web. It is, however, cast in metal: it would stand firm in the face of stormy weather. It is a representation of the stoicism and strength of the woman perhaps.
