Painted on-site on Minnehaha Parkway in Minneapolis. Features a spring crabapple tree in full blossom in shades of deep red, magenta, and pink. The colors of the tree are especially rich in the late evening light, giving the scene a mysterious quality. The tree is accented by white crabapple blossoms to the left, and lilac blossoms at the lower right. The blossoms are enhanced by the texture of oil paint thickly applied with palette knife. In contrast, the running, watery effects in the sky and grass were created with casein paint and glazed with oil. The canvas is stretched on 0.75" stretcher bars with painted sides in a "gallery wrap" style. It is ready to hang, or may be framed if desired.

Materials used:

oil paint, casein paint, canvas
