Not Quite Ethereal, draws on my love of fantasy romance and the sense of escapism those worlds offer. The composition evokes a dreamlike, otherworldly atmosphere, inspired by the beauty and freedom often found in imagined realms.
At the same time, the work acknowledges the tension between fantasy and reality. While these worlds invite us to escape, they remain just out of reach. Structured elements within the piece reflect the boundaries and expectations of everyday life, grounding the composition in something more tangible.
Not Quite Ethereal sits in that space between the two. It captures the pull of imagination, while recognising the limits of the world we live in
