This oversized oil painting is a conversation with the phenomenal nature of the landscape in England. I loved painting this work so much, I didn’t want it to end just like a delicious meal or an intriguing book, the work held me suspended as it unfolded in an almost supernatural way.
I had been working on developing contrast in the right palette for years and I feel that this epic painting which tells the story of mystery, of the elements, the wisps of air against dark soil and rock, the floating deconstructed and reimagined pink sunrise, finally begins to approach what my heart feels when I perceive creation this way. It is alive, it transmits to us the glory of God and the majesty of the firmament.
