First a seaside resort, then a vast playground for New Yorkers of all ages.
Having fallen into disuse for a time, it is now very popular—when I visited, the site was practically abandoned.
Located on the sand between the Brooklyn skyline and the Atlantic Ocean,
it draws crowds for its vintage attractions, kitschy shops, and its atmosphere of a perpetual carnival and fairground.
The artist sees in it an alphabet of colorful shapes, lines, and curves
which are combined to create colorful, dynamic, and joyful compositions.
