Original artwork description:

Morocco is one of my favourite countries to travel around. Just a short hop from Spain but a totally different atmosphere and culture. This painting tried to capture that feeling when you first arrive in Morocco, all the new sights, sounds and smells, which are both exciting and sometimes overwhelming. There is no single focal point, you want to look everywhere at once, just as you do when in a bazaar or in Jemaa el-Fnaa square in Marrakesh.

After an initial base coat was painted on, large rectangles of various colours were added, over several sessions smaller square and rectangles were added on top of the larger rectangles below, building up complexity and a feeling of many different objects or perhaps people of equal interest.

It is a powerful piece that would enliven any room, from an apartment, to an older house or a hotel.

Materials used:

Acrylic paint was added using brushes and by dribbling from a container. Paint was allowed to flow under gravity for short periods.
