Colliding Waves is a 30 x 40 inches (76 x 101cm) realist oil painting on canvas.
It is inspired by an early morning walk along the beach on the English south coast. A bright and sunny morning, the sea was lively and the waves were colliding with each other from behind and merging together at the front.
"I love painting the sea. The result is a painting that is in part realist, part abstract and part impressionistic. The fluidity of the paint echoes the fluidity of the water".
Christopher Witchall"s unsentimental approach to his subjects combine traditional painting techniques with the realism and cool detachment of photography.
The painting is on a deep edge canvas with white edges which does not require framing and is ready to hang.

Materials used:

Oil painting on deep edge canvas. No need for framing.
