In this still life, objects from nature are paired with an arrangement of decorative ribbons. The objects, in this case, creek shells, are elevated by both the title of the work and their placement amongst the ribbons. It is a comment on the human impulse to examine, collect and memorialize the existence of certain objects, and how the discards of nature often find their way into that place.
