Artwork description
This atmospheric landscape captures a moment of quiet release as heavy grey clouds begin to part above the Trotternish Ridge. Deep charcoal and soft ash greys dominate the sky, while a glowing break in the cloud reveals warm light in shades of muted orange and pale gold. Below, the land is washed in rich brown and rust tones, the autumn heather catching the light as it rolls gently across the hills.
The small houses of the Marishadder hamlet sit quietly within this vast landscape, their presence subtle and grounding against the scale of sky and mountain. The contrast between cool greys above and warm earthy colours below creates a balanced, calming composition — dramatic yet reassuring.
