Original artwork description
*Chlorophyll* is a work that reflects on the principle of regeneration, on the moment when matter absorbs new energy and is transformed into life.
Composed of around 4,500 tobacco sticks, the work takes shape from waste material – used up, having served its original purpose and normally destined to be discarded as rubbish. Through recovery and recomposition, these fragments are saved from their ordinary fate and reintroduced into a new generative process, becoming surface, rhythm and chromatic vibration.
The gradual transition from green to blue recalls the colours of chlorophyll-based photosynthesis, evoking that vital balance between light, air and transformation that makes growth possible.
In "Clorofilla", what had been exhausted symbolically returns to a fertile state. The waste material is stripped of its negative connotations and restored to an image of renewal, taking on a presence that recalls natural cycles, regeneration and the possibility of a second life.
The work thus creates a dialogue between two opposing forces: on the one hand, the traces of consumption and depletion; on the other, the idea of rebirth, nourishment and new energy. Clorofilla thus becomes a metaphor for a material which, although originally waste, is restored to a vital dimension, transforming into an image of balance, breath and regeneration.
