Clementines is a hyprerrealist oil painting on canvas, measuring 40 x 40cm (approx 16 x16 inches).

The painting, of a glass bowl filled with five glossy clementines, is artist Christopher Witchall’s attempt to give the genre of Dutch 17th century Still Life painting a modern aesthetic.

Witchall combines 21st century technology of Hi-Resolution digital imaging, with centuries old painting techniques, including a grisaille under painting and building up depth of colour by layering very thin transparent oil painting, in a technique called glazing.

The resulting painting has a high degree of realism, within a stripped back, modern feel composition.

Clementines is signed on the back and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
