Original artwork description
I spent a few days in New York in February 2022, I'm very in love with NYC, it is a melting pot of fascinating characters.
I decided to go to Washington Sq Park to do a bit of people watching, I am always looking for interesting people to paint. This lady caught my eye, rather eccentric looking, dyed orange hair piled up, bright blue eyeshadow, huge fur coat, sat alone on a freezing cold but bright sunny day with an old transistor radio and flask of coffee.
I introduced myself and asked if I could take a photo with my phone to use for a portrait on my return to the UK.
We chatted away, she turned out to be Claudia Schwalb, an artist and art critic for the New York Metropolitan Art Gallery...of all the people in all the places!, what a wonderful chance meeting.
Deep edge canvas, edges painted black, signed front and reverse.
Materials used:
oil
Details:
- Oil painting on Canvas
- One of a kind artwork
- Size: 50 x 76 x 3.8cm (unframed)
- Ready to hang
- Signed on the front
- Style: Graphic, illustrative and typographic
