acrylic colour on handmade thai mulberry paper, 10.5 x 13.3, 24.5 x 34.5 cm.
One of Singapore’s classic landmarks. I’ve done other variations on this theme. It’s an ever popular icon of the city state. Here I have painted on handmade paper for the textural parchment effect, the style more impressionist and not illustration.
The paper used here is a traditional paper handmade in Thailand. It’s a thick parchment like paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect.
The close up picture is to be able to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Then there’s the work in progress and that’s me with the painting for perspective.
