On the outskirts of the city, in small patches of land and vegetable gardens you can still feel immersed in nature. The city is never far away, yet for a moment you can step out of the daily bustle. The buildings in the distance serve as reminders of urban life, while here you can find peace and space for self-reflection.
The flowing water of the river creates the connection: in the morning it carries me to my garden, my little paradise. At the end of the day it brings me back home, to the heart of the city.
As often, I began with abstract shapes in an underpainting, from which a scene gradually emerged under my hands. The left panel developed quickly, as a tree and a window with a view of the city appeared. I wanted to approach the right panel in the same intuitive way, and realized that the two could be connected. This discovery became a challenge: to link the panels on both sides, allowing them to engage in dialogue in two different ways. The panels form a unified whole, yet each can also stand alone as an individual piece.
Upon request, I can provide the works framed as shown in the photos — just click on the ‘contact’ button. If not, a small hanging hook will be attached.
