Cineworld is a small realist oil painting on a gesso primed panel, 8 x 8 inches (approx 20 x 20cm).
The painting is a continuation of Christopher Witchall’s small urban landscape subjects focusing on the hidden beauty of the overlooked, mundane even banal aspects of everyday life. Inspired by the traditions of American photorealism but applied to the British urban landscape, Witchall utilises the subjects around his home town and travels in the UK.
The artist’s unsentimental approach to his subjects combine two great passions - a love of traditional painting techniques and a fascination with the photographic image.
Cineworld is signed on the back and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. The painting is painted on deep edge cradled panel, so there is no need for framing.
