This work depicts the interior of an old two-level castle church in the German city of Landshut.

I was drawn to the unusual character of this space: the antique carved statues, the crucifix of Christ, the intricate vaulted ceiling, and the soft natural light coming through the windows. I wanted to capture this unique atmosphere using a restrained brown color palette that emphasizes the noble character of the old architecture and materials.

Despite its dark palette, the painting radiates light and conveys a feeling of tranquility.

The artwork is painted in oil on canvas using an imprimatura technique and is finished with a protective varnish. The edges of the canvas are painted brown, allowing the painting to be displayed without a frame.
