This is a blue and white encaustic painting on nine cradled wood panels that are assembled to make a 36” square painting.
The subject is non objective abstraction, with a reference to the human form.
Encaustic paint is a combination of bees wax, damar resin, and pigment. It is heated and painted hot, and drys and hardens as it cools. There is a beautiful texture and translucency to the paint.
Encaustic paint is extremely durable (paintings have survived from ancient Egypt), but it is can be susceptible to the extreme temperatures, so avoid excessive heat(over 185 degrees) or freezing temperatures.
This piece comes ready to hang in a simple white wood frame.
