Although small in stature, Catbells is a much-loved mountain in the UK Lake District, perched beside Derwentwater and offering a direct climb with superb views in all directions. This view shows Derwent Isle, in the middle of the lake, with the trees catching the sun, and Catbells behind. My personal love affair with the Lake District began a long time ago, and it is a place I still visit very regularly, to walk in the hills and absorb the beauty of the landscapes. This painting is based on a visit to the area in May 2026. It is painted in oils on a canvas board.
