CHARLIE is a sculpture depicting a slightly mischievous cat with a funny face. He is a tender creature holding his beloved little white mouse in one paw, protecting it from other cats...
It is part of the CalbinoOz series, sculptures made from natural calabash wood that has been grown and dried in the south of France.
The calabash used to make it has been emptied of its contents, seeds and skin, so that it can be exported worldwide without any health concerns.
Like many CalbinoOz sculptures, it wears a small knitted jumper made from superfine wood cellulose that has been moulded, dried and then painted with several layers of different shades to give a mottled ceramic effect, protected after painting with a marine varnish. Its whiskers were created by deboning dried money plant leaves.
Piece signed under the bottom.
Material: dried hollow calabash wood, superfine wood cellulose, blown glass, acrylic paint and water-soluble oil, protective varnish, dried money plant.
