Original artwork description
" Mademoiselle Love " is a sculpture of a plump, shy and cute little cat. Her first name, Love, is engraved in a bronze-coloured overprint on her brown, grey and black mottled jumper.
She's part of the CalbinoOz series, sculptures made from natural gourd wood grown in the south of France.
The calabash was emptied of its seeds and skins so that it could be exported without fear to the health level of the whole world. To make it heavier again, the calabash was filled with red clay balls.
Like many CalbinoOz sculptures, she wears a small knitted jumper made from modelled, dried surfine wood cellulose, then painted in several layers of different shades to give a mottled, ceramic effect after protection with marine varnish.
Signed piece.
Materials: dried empty calabash wood, surfine cellulose, blown glass, acrylic paint and water-soluble oil, protective varnish.
