Carolyn. Part of the Covers series (2026) Original Oil Painting by Anja Rudko

60 x 80 x 2cm (unframed)

£1,599.6

Carolyn
60 × 80 cm
Oil on canvas

Part of the Covers series, which explores the visual language of fashion and cultural magazines through painting.

Inspired by Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, one of the most enigmatic style icons of the 1990s, this portrait focuses less on celebrity and more on atmosphere, memory, and emotional distance.

Unlike the more graphic works in the series, Carolyn is built on softness and restraint. The figure emerges from a muted palette and loose brushwork, appearing almost suspended between presence and disappearance. Light blonde hair, dark clothing, and a subdued background create a sense of quiet tension and introspection.

The painting reflects an interest in the moments that exist beyond public image — the fragile space between visibility and privacy, between icon and individual.

Painted with expressive layers of oil paint, the work balances contemporary portraiture with a cinematic sense of stillness and nostalgia.

Ready to hang.
