Buzz of the Brave is an original watercolour painting featuring a bumblebee nestled in the heart of a red poppy. I was drawn to the contrast between the delicate appearance of the bee and the bold, expressive petals surrounding it.

I wanted to capture the quiet strength of this tiny creature — small, busy and determined as it moves among the flowers. The fine details of its wings, body and delicate highlights contrast with the looser watercolour washes of the poppy and the soft violet background.

Painted in 2024, during my early creative period, this work reflects my early exploration of combining detailed subjects with expressive, atmospheric watercolour washes. It bears my early signature — my initials and the year 2024 — on the front.
