Bridge over Glenridding Beck (2023)Oil painting by Peter Frost

This painting started as a small oil sketch done several years ago in the Lake District, when on a walking holiday with friends. I also had some good photography’s, so I decided to do a studio painting at a much larger size. The painting features a little stone bridge over the Glenridding Beck which flows into Ullswater. It was early spring, and the Beck was full and clear. The boulders and pebbles have a rich colour. I was particularly taken by the light beneath bridge which helps to make the painting complete. The frame is a traditional gold frame with a light slip.
