Original artwork description
On this day I planned to paint the Thames from Richmond, only to have a clinker boat park in the centre of my composition. As I love Van Gogh’s brief depictions of men and women at work, I was immediately drawn to attempt a rudimentary boat and man sanding it. Afterwards I introduced myself to him. “Call me Boatyard Bill,” he said, “everyone from here to Cornwall does.”
