This wall painting is a trip to Netherlands through space and time, along pretty buildings adorning neat Amsterdam canals, passing by the city’s famed port, into the romantic freedom of the open sea. It is a mix of classic Dutch seascape, crawling with boats, and a city scene, with approximately half of the space in the artwork occupied by architecture and the other half by water and sky, and ships. It is also an improbable mix of a quiet seashore country town with a bustling city full of business, a combination possible in preciously few places on our Earth.

The piece is done in a dreamy, yet steady impressionistic style, and has a defined texture to it clearly visible with the eye. I painted it with pastel shades of blue and white, and orange, and a little bit of green, with enough juicy bright colors to galvanize it to life, making it a great-looking décor fitting for any interior.

There are no people in the painting, only deep, blue-and-white water at the front, with a cityscape of old European houses and kempt trees further away. Yet, tidy, Dutch-style vessels with their small, neat sails down are traversing the canal before us, and we know that beyond the sound of waves and the cries of seagulls, a busy city lives.
