''BLUE DOMES IN OIA SANTORINI GREECE'' is a modern impressionist textural impasto palette knife oil painting by ANA MARIA EDULESCU.

I was inspired to paint this work by the wonderful Oia village in Santorini island, Greece. I am in love with the Santorinian village named Oia with it's bright white houses, it's blue churches' domes and the stunning deep blue of the Aegean sea.

First time I visited the Greek island Santorini in 2010 and in June 2017 , after 7 years, I was again there to let my soul and eyes get inspiration of the beauty of this place.


When I paint an abstract cityscape, I try to capture the essence of the subject, most an inner impression, a personal perception ... The city is not rendered, but suggested into an abstract manner by splashes of vibrant colors and impasto palette knife strokes.
