Inspired by trees arching over a winding path, and by woodland flowers heavy with blossom, this painting evokes a sense of optimism, fresh colour, and new life. Spring breezes scatter falling petals like confetti, their joyful blooms a reminder of warmer weather and brighter days.
This one-of-a-kind, original artwork is created using high-quality acrylic paints on a deep-edged canvas. My process begins with direct observation of the landscape, making notes and taking photographs to inform the work in the studio. From these references, I paint intuitively, building initial layers with a brush before applying rich impasto textures, layer upon layer, using a palette knife.
The painting draws on optical colour-mixing techniques associated with the Impressionists, alongside traditional methods used by the Old Masters, including scumbling and glazing. I continue refining the work until it reaches a natural and resolved conclusion. The result is a contemporary painting that sits between abstraction and realism.
The image extends around the sides of the canvas, so no frame is required, and the artwork arrives ready to hang.
