Original artwork description
Bleaklow is an atmospheric study painted in oil on stretched linen canvas of the mysterious gritstone moorland just North of Kinder Scout
Inspiration for this painting came to me one day whilst out dog walking. I love to be absorbed in the landscape and to feel energised by the weather.
On this day I watched and waited until the days light was almost gone, observing the scurrying clouds change the shape and form of my eerie surroundings. The descending mist clung to everything it touched, the colours blurred, and so did the separation between the sky and the land.
Now was the magical time that I wanted to paint, the corridor between day and night.
